My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/
I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
Wow I thought about doing that but was worry that it would effect the way it would float or the square bill wouldn't diver wouldn't track right.Goingbtobtry it tomorrow.
I've tried that with a Blakemore Roadrunner as the "prey" bait. It didn't work for me because the line would get tangled with the Roadrunner hook. This looks more streamlined and should work better. Once again thanks for the tip.
Great tip! 👌 As an avid cranker here in the CA delta, I will definitely give it a try! 👍
How does it come over shallow wood? Thanks for the content 👊💪
Great tip!!! Like the idea!!!👊🏻 Will put it into my arsenal!!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!
This seems kind of like a crawler harness for walleye in front of a crankbait.
Ever consider using a Mepps in-line spinner with a dropper line from where the treble hook attaches???
Love it
After watching this tip, I tied it on and today after work I pulled a 3.5 lber on it at a little lake near my workplace. 👍 looks awesome in the water.
Hey Matt, was wondering if you need to work this fast to simulate the chase and a few rips. Or can it be worked with slower bits in the retrieve? Will it work with a slow roll? I'm so keen to try this.
In my mind I am thinking the split ring on the swivel will pass right over a bobber stop. Am I missing something?
Hey Matt, great suggestion again, thanks. Just got back from Lake Fork. Terrible fishing on the lake but had good luck on some of the smaller lakes. Lake Fork is down 6' for dam repair leaving the lake cluttered with wood everywhere! Very difficult navigating around.
A few years ago I was fishing where there was alot of muskie and I used a steel leader, I was using a white spinnerbait so I used a peace of a white floating worm to keep my leader clip from sliding down the arm of my spinnerbait and I caught alot of big bass
Yeah buddy, great tip!
That is a great tip, thanks! Have you ever tried it with a small, medium or even large swimbait? Or maybe a glide bait like an S-Waver?
Lost my modded spybait due small line on spinning. The bail closed on my Cadence top-of-the-line CS10. Had my PLX/Kistler caster in the car. Too far to retrieve. Oh well. Just don't want people to find the lure and see the secret that took all those boiling fish that won't eat nothing else. Luckily, the water kept coming up on the lake. See, when you make a genius modd that is deadly as fook, great fishermen can see it and they will not know what the fook you is doing. Pretty much you can quote me. Many modds can be made to spys but the simpliest is the deadliest. DUO wouldn't know. They said spys are silent capture. It's a noisy capture. We know what true silent captures are. However, DUO has silenced us. And only one model in the spy lineup is worth your hard money.
Modded a white frog to have willow legs. Also modded an addition lower hook for hook up. I'm not a frog-in-the-open type, but we making it for the boils. Had white blades, but the clack and the paint chips. Went back to silver. Silver will bling bling. Fun in the sun.
Modding that top pink jerkbait to extra boost the efficacy. Glitterized the exterior with 2 thick coats of handbrushed epoxy resin. Implanted rattles. Made a fighting rooster trailer for it. Instead of suspend strips, added one bb to the top back and three bbs to under the chin for that diving action. If it retains that side-to-side action, it will be extremely deadly at deep depths with long-range castibility. It was deadly OEM as was. This is the top of the game.
Looks awesome. Can't wait to try it!!
Thank you for the video.
Thanks for sharing
Great mod, Matt!
Yep. I've seen 24" bass try to eat my 14" bass which I had on the hook. Like a trout trolling rig.
Thanks for the video. What size spinner do you normally use? I notice TW has 3 sizes.
You always give the best tips, can’t wait to try it
Great trick. I’ll try it.
I'm going to try that, thanks!!
That is a very interesting idea. I will be giving this a try next time out.
Have you ever thought of doing your picks for baits for the current month? Maybe 3 top southern baits and 3 top northern baits for whatever month is coming up. Maybe do them on the 1st of each month.
Do u even run into bass biting the blade?
That's a really cool idea! Definitely b trying that. That's a good way to trigger a bite!
Do pike hit the blade? Just curious if you've done this in northern clear water? Don't want to lose even more crankbaits to them. Looks real cool, gonna try it!
I believe you can add about 1,634 more users to the "underground" group!
Great tip. Will try this out. What knot did you tie on the crankbait?
Working man's and micro A-rigs…you're talk'n my language!
This reminds me of a Norman's Front Runner which was designed and used in the same concept for topwater baits. I like it!
Totally genius…
I do something similar in reverse….take a PopMax remove the front hook and tie on a dressed treble to the back hook with about a 10 – 16 inch leader.. it catches schooling fish big time ,kinda like a popping float in saltwater.
I never could see what kind of swivel You are using. If it was a barbarian swivel If it had a snappering Every time you show a picture I'd see your fingers in the way No matter how many times I paused it And try for the highest revolutions
I tried this on worms, never thought about using it on a hardbait..
Another great video Matt. Appreciate this one as Im gonna try this very soon.
Funny you made this because I have been playing around with the Cat 3 Tackle- Bladed Teaser and Decoy Blades for my vibrating jigs. I’m one of those guys that still likes to tie on a front runner for my topwaters. Thanks dude!
Another saltwater trolling Mod. Love it Thanks Matt.
Sweet tweek. I’m calling the food-chain 👍
👍🏻👍🏻
Just got back from the lake. worked on the motor " water pump" and just wanted to make sure everything was working. Since we were there of course we got our lines wet. Two hours and fifteen minutes and three fish, not too bad. A big front and terrible storm last night. Didn't do to bad. Pretty nice trick, looks like it will work real well when they get off their beds. Last weekend we had snow.
This is a great tip and thanks for sharing this with us!!
I can remember back when I was a kid I used to tie a fly ahead of my lures to imitate a fish chasing a fly I never thought about using a spinner this way. This is why I watch tou every day…and yes you can teach an old dog new tricks. Lol.
Great tip. I checked TKW Comes with stops. Perfect , MAY 1st Tip of the month ! Another home run by MATT Many Thanks MAtt
Dude this is solid. Gotta try it!! #madscientist
