Bass Fishing Lake Don Pedro California 03 15 2024
The weather is warming up, and so is the fishing. I headed up to Lake Don Pedro and launched from Fleming Meadows, then headed towards the Jenkins Hill area. The fish are not in the spawn pattern yet but they are starting to move up. I ended up catching 1 Largemouth and 4 Spots totalling about 17 lbs of fish. What a nice day, temps were in the low 70s, the winds were light, and the fish were biting. I started with my usual bleeding shad spinnerbait. I would let the kayak drift parallel to the shore about 40 feet away, then cast perpendicular near the bank with a slow retrieve to allow the bait to fall near the bottom. Fish would typically hit the bait about halfway back to the kayak. Good luck if you decide to head out that way.
