Bass Fishing In My First Bank Fishing Competition | Edenvale Quarry

Catching bass from the bank has become really popular. Having a competition for bank bass fishing is a great way of getting new bass fishermen to get into the competitive side of fishing.

In this video I was asked to bank fish in the edenvale quarries first ever bass fishing competition. Bank anglers from all over Johannesburg came through to try and fish in one of the first bank fishing comps.

The bass fishing competition was split into two section, one morning session and one afternoon session. The rules where that adults had to catch bass over 15 cm to get thee name on the board, kids could measure bass at any size. This made the day really competitive for all anglers and this gave everyone a fair chance of winning the competition.

The Edenvale Quarry is a really tricky venue and this made the day really competitive for all bass fishing anglers.

At the start of the comp I through a Berkley jig around the edges of the small dam and managed to land my first bass. The marshal measured my bass at 44,5 cm, this put me in the lead with biggest bass for the day. After fishing the small pond I decided to move to the big dam. This is where the drop shot come into play and I caught my second bass for the day. the bass measured 33,2 cm. At this point people had caught many bass and they must have had 10 bass on the board.

There was so limit to how many fish you could catch. it was all about how much length you could rack up to win first price.

Ass the first session progressed I through around that drop shot, I also punched the single patch of lilly pads the endenvale quarry has to see if I couldn’t find bigger bites. this was unsuccessful.

After the the first session was over I only had caught to bass. Tough day for me at the edenvale quarry. Bass fishing is one of those sports where you are fighting against mother nature and this makes it a challenge to try and catch fish that have there own ways.

I didn’t bass fish in the second session, instead I walked around and spoke to other anglers to see how there day was going and how they caught bass. At the same time I spoke to subscribers who had seen my previous videos at the edenvale quarry. This was really great because I could talk fishing face to face with the anglers that support my channel but also enjoy the sport of fishing as much as I do.

This bank fishing experience was really rewarding and I hope there will be many more in the future.

  1. Was great to meet and compete against you at this event! Pity I didn't even get a dink for the entire day but was fun nevertheless. Also, I should have just given you that pb&j jig…I ended up losing it in a snag the next time I went fishing๐Ÿ˜…
