Bass Fishing in BC — Swimbaits and Crankbaits for Summer Largemouth Bass | Lower Mainland, BC

August 1, 2023

It was a hot mid-summer day and I had redemption on my mind. A few days before this trip a friend and I hit this same lake and had a terrible day. I caught one fish on my first cast and that was it for the day for us. So back to the lake I went in search of Largemouth Bass.

I started the day casting small swim baits and curly tails on 1/4oz jig heads which had been producing well for me until recently. I hooked into a fish on my second cast, but had a dry spell after that. I decided to tie on a new lure that I had no experience or confidence with – a diving crankbait from 13 Fishing.

I continued covering water as I got the hang of the lure and it’s action. Before long I was into fish almost back to back.

This day was a great reminder of what I think of as foundational to fishing — cover the water, switch up the presentation, and just keep casting!!!
