In this video I head to a beach one evening to target some bass. I’d be using fresh lugworm which I’d dug the day before on running ledger rigs with a 3/0 aberdeen and a 2/0 offset chinu as the pennel.
The conditions that night were a little wild, with a heavy swell hitting the shore and causing quite a stir in the water. Great conditions for bass! As I was trying my best to get a bait in the water and filming the odd bit here and there, it was difficult to piece together this video.
This is the outcome of that session. Thanks for watching and see you on the next one 🎣

Brilliant video , keeps me sane 🙂
Super Bass Cal. A very satisfying result for the session.
It’s better you showed it, we all have crazy sessions, you just happen to catch a cracking bass straight if the mark…
Sometimes those chaotic sessions are the most rewarding. Lovely fish that first one. 68 cm – that's approaching 8 lbs. As you say imagine that on the lure rod. I had a 62 cm one on the lures a couple of weeks back and that lead me a merry dance !
No need to apologise cal, the video was excellent and very entertaining, well done great effort in trying conditions, what a beast to start with, did you return her and if you did ,did she go back ok after such a hard fight, cheers pal
What an opening to a session.that was a beast of a bass.getting your gear back and a nice bass attached is some what of a bonus.well, well done cal.
Liked and shared. Quality as always.
Hi Cal, I have been watching your videos often from hospital bed in recent months. They helped me to get away from reality for a while, thank you. I am well enough now to do some short sessions of fishing again.
I am thinking of getting a new reel. You are using the Vanford 4000XG, can I ask you why why choose this one over the 4000MHG? I am on the fence, dont know which one to get. The MHG is slower and the M spool but still take well over 300m of PE 0.8 braid. Then the XG has regular spool that takes 490m of PE 1 but it has higher gear ratio. Given the choice I am a bit lost. Help😂
Cracking trip mate lovely bass
Cracker of a fish
TRUCK CAL! Yeeewww! Well done Squire! – SMITHY 😉🤙🎣🐟

Awesome fish! 👏👏👏
Hi Cal, great session mate and a lovely bass at the start. Im interested to know what the yellow dot that was on the screen with the number 35 in it ? Rob T from Brixham.
Superb night, Cal!
That first fish was a dream come true, absolutely stunning.
Glad it all worked out in the end, and, you get a feed too.
100% 🙂
Thanks for the Video
Hopefully I will also have such a" weird Session" next month.
Tight Lines
2,50 here in EIRE we would call that a minnow ,7 to 10 pounds would be the usual size
great advice about the fishing line. i find dicgarded line all over the beach. why people can't just take their stuff home, empty water bottles, beer cans etc. with them i don't know
