Bass Fishing an Abandoned Golf Course During Florida's Historic Draught!
Today we’re fishing the ponds of a former golf course that opened in 1926 and closed in 2014. Years after being closed down, these hidden bass fishing spots are revealing secrets thanks to some of the lowest water levels Florida has seen in decades. Areas that were once 4–5 feet underwater are now completely exposed!
Armed with live shiners, soft plastics, and a chatterbait, I set out to see if the bass were still holding in these shrinking ponds. Along the way, we found old golf balls from the course’s playing days, spotted a massive snapping turtle, and landed several quality largemouth bass.
The drought conditions have completely changed how these fish are feeding, and today’s trip gave some great insight into bass behavior during low-water conditions. If you enjoy pond fishing, bass fishing tips, Florida fishing adventures, abandoned places, and catching big largemouth bass, this is a video you won’t want to miss.
