How To

Bank Fishing For Largemouth Bass In EXTREMELY DIRTY PONDS!!!!!!

In this episode of bank fishing I go to a new fishing venue called Rust In Orbi AKA the R50 dam out in the south of johannesburg.

This bank fishing venue is a very popular fishing spot for those who want to do Carp fishing, barbel fishing and obviously bass fishing. The R50 dam has 4 ponds which all hold a number of different fish species.

You can target any fish species in all 4 ponds so you as a bass angler are not restricted to fish where you like. The cost for entrance for the whole day is R50.

Bass fishing at the R50 dam was that day. We have been experiencing a lot of rain during the days and this makes the ponds really dirty and muddy. The rain we have been having also hasn’t been making the bass fishing easy. Th bass will hunker down due to all the irregularities in the weather conditions.

This makes largemouth bass fishing really tough and as you can see I did struggle to find the largemouth bass in the dams. I came unprepared with the wrong lures in mind and this didn’t help me catch many largemouth bass in this dirty pond.

The lures I usually would use in dirty water would be those that have a bigger presence in the water and dark in colours. Black is always a good bait to use in those dirty water situations.

My lak of knowledge of the pond restricted me on finding the largemouth bass and also not having the knowledge of there usual food source made it difficult for me catch bass.

The day was good otherwise. I did manage to catch four largemouth bass in these dirty ponds.

The R50 dam has a lot of potential to produce largemouth bass if you have the knowledge on how to catch them. So this dam is great and you should visit it soon.

I will be returning to the dam for more bass fishing in the future .

  1. Sascha bru the water there is extremely dirty all the time and your lure choice was spot on, those are all the lures I have found that seem to work there espicially the chatterbait, its had tremendous success and multiple 3kg+ have been pulled out recently. Anyways great video
