Indeed. I used to buy fishing magazines and lures at the local drug store. How I felt back then is what I try to achieve today that same feeling of innocence. The other day I had a massive blow up on a hula popper. Missed it but was nostalgic.

Brings me back to the days of looking at my dad’s Bassmaster magazines and growing up fishing Sam Rayburn with flasher units!! Back when all you needed was a Hawg Hustler spinnerbait, Lunker Lure buzzbait, a Pappa Doodle prop bait and a Mister Twister black/chartreuse or grape/fire tail worm … The good Ol’ days!!

Recently I have been watching the old Bassmaster Classic shows. It's really interesting to watch the progression of technology during the shows. Tri-hull boats, oxygen meters, live wells, CB radios, pistol grip rods, Big O lures, graphs, and on and on. The old shows were also incredibly sexist.

I always like to see the old magazines when you do it. I just wish you would slow your camera moving down a little bit. So I could posit every once in awhile and read a thing or two. I would have turned one in November of 84

I totally agree with the younger generation fisherman should know the history of professional bass fishing. If anything it’s fascinating just how things were done And what lures were used!! Good Video!!
I loved Fishing Facts magazine. It was started by Bill Binkelman in 1963. Also later came the Linders with In-Fisherman.
Never forget when evinrude came out with the best foot control trolling motor ever made in my opinion , they were designed the best in my opinion , my first truck dodge ram charger , suv , 318 v8
I still have all my old 1990 to 98 Bassmaster magazines. Definatly a better time and fishing experiance.

Look closely at the Payouts. They are about the same as they are today at BFL Level and you could buy a new boat and truck for under $30k! The only thing not keeping pace is the Piss Poor payouts! This sport is so break in the tournament sense… Cool magazine and I knew everyone featured in it!

I miss the old days of bass fishing magazines..So much information, with many different techniques…Magazines were pretty thick, too…Today's magazines, are about 10 pages 😂 and like $8,9…This video's gonna make me go in the basement and pull out my 30+ year old magazines…Thanks Randy, I'm going to enjoy pulling those out this weekend….I even have some of the midwest, old paperback magazines..can't recall the name at the moment
