Quite a story there Steve. Broke into his ex employer, steal a fish, and gets a slap on the wrist. Obviously the punishment doesn't fit the crime.

Nothing comes close to Mike Long raising bass in his garage aquarium, then fiberglassing secret livewells into his bass boat and bringing the homegrown fish to the tournament scales.
That guy is the worst of the worst.
Bringing this story up to 2025, here is my thought or two. 1. As money gets bigger, more and more people will be tempted to cheat. 2. Professional fishing leagues need officials in every boat. 3. Professional fishing leagues need smaller fields to accomplish need #2. MLF and BASS both seem to be heading in this direction, with BASS being slightly slower.

That's nuts! The Sea bass was living the good life in the aquarium…What a bonehead! The penalties were far too light imo.
I loathe cheaters. I loathe even more "sportsman" who do not take care of their catch or in this case the fish he illegally captured. He got off easy? You can literally get thrown in jail and have your assets frozen for so called "hate speech" in that country. Stealing property and being cruel to an animal gets a small fine? I sincerely hope Karma is watching this a-hole.
Lame punishment. Stealing a fish to then injure it and sell it… for a tourney win!!?? That’s just… odd. What a maroon!!
