Some fishing traditions take you thousands of miles from where they started.

For years, my Dad, Grandpa, and I made an annual trip to Fremont, Wisconsin, chasing white bass on the Wolf River. This year, with my new job keeping me far from the Midwest, we decided to bring that tradition to Alaska.

The family came up for a summer trip, and we headed to Seward to drop hundreds of feet into the Gulf of Alaska in search of halibut, rockfish, and coho.

And we absolutely hammered the fish.

But this trip was about more than catching fish. It was about getting my family to Alaska, spending time together, and making the kind of memories that last a lifetime.
