I'm with you on not being a swimbait only guy.
That said, just like either a senko/fluke, and a topwater.. I always have one on. Especially a more medium size one. I'm on a gizzard shad impoundment, no threadfin, so it is one of those truly essential baits. If you are on a bluff wall, or cover thats on the right structure… it WILL get thrown. A higher percentage glide bait or swimbait on higher percentage area is a lot more productive than "chuck a giant bait all day for very few bites"
Best swimbaits for beginners Spro 50 rat, 7 or 9 in slammer, Shine glide 185, S Waver 200. My Cousin got his PB on the Ganteral 7 14oz in Massachusetts. I personally don't like to throw it. My buddy Joey makes the Psycho gill and Trout and I tested the Pshyco gill for him before it came out. The Trout he makes is my absolute favorite swimbaits. I caught 10 over 5 lbs in 2 weeks in 2019. I threw conventional probably 50% this year which is alot for me.

I havnt thrown it much but I will say it definitely makes a bank beater like myself have some confidence cuz I know it's going to stay up in the water column and not hang me up
