First Time Fishing Below the McHenry Dam on the Fox River (Moraine Hills State Park)

I finally decided to hit up a new spot on the Fox River that I’ve been wanting to check out for months; the McHenry Dam in Moraine Hills State Park, IL. While fishing directly below the dam was a bust, I did manage to find some productive water holding a variety of species ranging from yellow bass, channel catfish, yellow perch, and freshwater drum. All fish were caught off the bottom using a river rig with half a night crawler on a small circle hook.
