Catch More Fall Bass. (Jigging Shadow Rap Trick)

When fall arrives, big smallmouth are one of the first species that come to mind. With winter fast approaching, they’re in full feeding mode, packing on calories to sustain them through the colder months, much like bears. While smallmouth almost always feed on pelagic baitfish, this season, they focus heavily on that diet. In our area, they’re mainly targeting ciscoes. Another key point is that bass are grouped tightly where we’re fishing, so it can take a bit of searching to find them—but once you do, the action can be incredible. The technique I’m showcasing in this video not only works for fish directly beneath the boat, but it’s also effective at drawing them in from a distance.
