Peacocks hit anything that bothers them so dont act like your a fishing magician cuz you use lures bud. I literally caught 2 peacock on a bare hook
I think that first fish was a peacock that crossbred with a largemouth.

There were originally 2 species of peacock bass released in Florida. Spotted and butterfly are the 2 names I think. The internet says the bigger kind died off, but it looks like you might have caught 1. I don't remember which one it said died off, and I don't think it's accurate info.
I'm going rainbow bass fishin' in Costa Rica next week and this looks like great advice on retrieves and lures. They're all giant cichlids but there's less info on the rainbows.
The color pattern is called "Paca" and shows the individual being fully focused on hunting. When they are paca, fight harder, jumps insanely.

I’m right with ya bro, I throw nothing but hard baits, and once in while soft baits wether it’s a 6” Magdraft or a spook, or the juice #mirrolure
But like ya said, anyone can get a P or a LM on a live shiner, where’s the challenge??? #keepitartificiallookinreal
I use a lot of the same techniques as use with good success. I also use a 3 inch finess (spelled wrong) with an erratic retrieve with good success especially in heavy cover. I rig it seedless.
And ya shiners are fun but a topwater hit from a 5lb peacock is amazing

In south florida i never catch peacocks either but plenty of largemouth. I've noticed this guy really has a fast retrieve compared to how i fish so im gonna try that

Friend very good video. For me the BEST lure for very big peacock bass in Florida is the prop bait 4.0 inch. Grim Ripper from High Roller Company. The best colors for me are firetiger, clown, redhead.

Never used a shiner before.. I just use plastics and boy do those peacock go crazy for plastic
The little peacock reminds me of a orinoco lol with the bars looking more like spots
Going out to get peacock bass for the first time in my life since I am from Boston and I am down in the Delray area now and I'm getting that mirrolure twitch bait to try it out and I think that would be a great lure.
