This morning i was fishing a retention pond looking for bass and black crappie. I have a 7' med-fast abu garcia casting rod with a 6.4:1 reel by abu garcia as well, and using 1/4oz swimbaits by Storm Lures in the shad color. I hooked two largemouth bass but as soon as they break the surface and shake their head, the lure flies out. I am wondering if you had any tips. I always had bend in the rod tip and i believe a sweeping hookset to the right, maybe horizontal to the water. Thanks! Love your shows
What gear ratio are you using for this style of fishing? I got a feeling that 5.3.1 is too slow and 7.1.1 is too fast… So do you think a 6.3.1 would work best?? Would help for someone who is new to baitcasting like myself..
