My local lake has been down about 8-9 ' for months. There are absolutly no fish shallow. The reason i think this is so, is because there is no cover ex. rock ,laydowns , grass, in the water at all .The bait needs cover to stay hidden from the bass. Water clarity ,sunlight ,has nothing to do with it. If there is no food shallow there will be no bass i have witnessed this for months now.
Whether the water is falling or raising on a lake or pond in the fall, spring, summer or winter, I just treat it like a normal day of fishing no matter how the fish reacts to those conditions and enjoy catching bass in every situation where it’s not a problem to over cook my day. Fish smarter not harder.
Maybe they seem shallower because 5-8 feet water just became 3-6 feet?
