  1. I think you could find the plopper. It looks like it landed near the shore, + it should float. Hopefully a bass doesn't hit it if it's floating around, lol. That happened to me in July with a top water frog. My alberto knot must have not been tied properly, and it undid. I saw the frog floating. I retrieved it, but I was worried a bass would take it before i could go get it 😅!!
There's some good looking bass in that little pond. Nice video brother!!

  2. IMHO 20lb braid is too small for a baitcaster, generally speaking. Not because it’s not strong enough but because it’s too thin. It wedged down between its own wraps and got stuck on that cast, the weak spot then became your knot when the line wouldn’t release.

Additionally, braid isn’t the best line for topwaters anyway (frogs aside) because there’s not enough stretch. Treble hook baits, especially topwaters, need more stretch/flex in the system to give over to the fish. I’ve been been using 12/14lb mono for 35 years of serious bass fishing including tournaments and don’t remember the last time I broke a fish off with it, so it’s plenty strong. I use it for everything other than frogging and heavy flipping.

Everyone and their brother says they need braid but no one ever says why and can’t explain what braid is/isn’t good for. It’s a tool like anything else: great for some things, terrible for others. Hopefully it his helps. 🤟🤟

  3. What a beautiful day to be out fishing and as usual, plenty of action for you. Too bad about that snapped line and learned a new term, "Shamu'd" LOL Great to see the topwater hits, great job Jared!
