In this video I’m discussing the grass spraying situation on Lake Guntersville and how it can adversely impact the fishing on one of the best kayak fishing destinations in the world if we are vigilant in keeping an eye on it.

Out here in NorCal especially on the CA Delta/Clear Lake I’ve heard convos of doing this because there’s a budget and the folks can get paid, so they’ll spray as long as they get paid. Terrible mindset. Why kill grass that mess up the ecosystem. Let grass grow and let nature take its course.
My opinion
Guntersville is the Mecca of Largemouth and you don't realize that.
Lake Erie is Walleye
St. Clair is smallmouth
Santee is catfish
On and On
It is my goai to get down and flipping the grass everywhere(like in Ohio) to find donkeys fishing out of a 10.5 ft piece of plastic
Good awareness video.
In a few lakes in Ohio , they wanted to clean up the water. So 5-6 years ago they placed Zebra muscles in the lake that was only 4ft-8ft deep. It got too clear now the grass so thick the boats get out of the docks. The grass was too thick for the fish to live in. They been mechanical harvesting some grass but not spraying. But you do need some grass.
Who's face do I need to get in? I don't live on guntersville but
Chad I appreciate your insight. My wife and I have been looking at properties around guntersville lake since we fished it 2 years ago for the kbf championship. We love the lake and it's grass. We're waiting for our last child to graduate to relocate to this amazing place, which will be in about 2 more years. We as well would like to monitor this as lake guntersville is our soul reason for wanting to relocate. We will be monitoring this closely as we're not going to buy a home on a fishery that is on the downhill slide due to over spray or poor management of the lake. Anything we can do to get involved, let us know.
Okeechobee is ruined from spraying as well.
Thank you chad for the information and yes I agree spaying dose kill more than just plants it can kill off fish
Man, again I’ve head so much of this lake is so awesome to fish. I need to come there very very soon! Thanks Chad for helping this lake.
That’s a frustrating situation. Too many people automatically go for bending the environment to fit their wants instead of integrating themselves into the environment. The results are too often disastrous.
Florida enters the chat😬 they are on a mission to eradicate the grass in every lake in the state. You can fight it all you want, if they are going to spray and they will not stop. They spray Headwaters….a lake that was engineered to be a bass fishing mecca.
Grass Harvesting is the only safe and Bass Friendly way to do grass. Let people throw some Dock and beach pucks out near there docks. Thats what lakes around me do in Michigan. They leave the grass in a way. Just kinda cut it.
Love Guntersville, I drive from Nashville to fish there and it never disappoints.
SAVE LAKE GUNTERSVILLE!
Who do we call or write to to get it stopped?
They're killing the fishing in Gville.. Horrible!
Wildlife always takes the backseat. I was planning a trip there next spring. Leave the lakes alone. Find a better way
Could you give us some links to the people that want to spray so we can voice our concerns to them personally and often?
Great video. In June, I went on a night fishing trip with you, and as you may remember, I'm planning on moving to Guntersville. What can i do as a non-resident of Alabama?
I love that you have a Sasquatch shirt. I knew there was a reason I like you
My grandpa shows me pictures of santee copper back in the 70’s and 80’s and the quality and amount of fish he used to catch before they killed the grass now it’s super tough and not really worth the drive.
Good luck with this…
