Frog Water – Topwater Fly Fishing for Bass in Oregon

There is something very special about wading through the flat, reed-filled water, throwing four inch long, floating frog patterns. The anticipation…waiting for the water to explode, and a football shaped fish to shoot from the water.

Bass fishing is awesome, and it’s very different compared to the most of the fishing we do; wading through 4-8ft high reeds, finding open, flat-water slots, is the name of the game.

  1. I have had fun catching 2 to 5 lb. small mouth bass on the fly as well with top water frog poppers  in the mornings before the wind starts up  just north of Tahoe in the small lakes ….so fun watching the water explode  and then the tug of war is on  (ha) ! Great video !!

  2. Another captivating video from MountainMadeMedia. Love the music choice, it creates such a dynamic feeling when laid over the top of the video footage. Definitely gives the outdoors and fly fishing a modern feeling. Beautiful landscape you were fishing in as well. Wish I could get into something like this some day. Keep posting!

  3. I really, REALLY need to get a heavier rod and reel weight for streamers… Before I head out for training I have been trying to fish every free moment but no one I know fly fishes so the spots to go are pretty unknown and I'm just trying to hit the waters before I leave for duty. But I would love to hit some froggy water on crane prairie or Ana reservoir for some stripes.
