sweet corn is the best to catch Golden shiners only thing I can constantly catch them on. Only caught 3 In 4 years on lures an artificial. 20+ on sweet corn some days.

you can give that fish all the credit you want but i give the credit to you for braving the cold and the lonelyness of fishing by your self / i live in FLA and have a decent boat but i see guys out 10 or 20 miles in small bass boats and glencoes all by themselves that there is half dedication and half dumb although i may have thoose ratios totally screwed up / but nice fish .

A 7.5 pounder is nothing to sneeze at RG. Most people won't ever catch even a 5 pounder. Well done buddy!

Next time you pull a smallmouth out, hold it in the live well, make a couple more cast before letting him go.
