With this selection of baits you’re able to cover every bass fishing scenario that fall fishing can throw your way. Whether the fish are up shallow in docks and timber or out in the scattered grass, tullies, and bull rushes, you’ll have lures to reach and trigger the bass into biting.

Use the glidebait, swimbaits, and reaction baits to locate schooling fish but once you’ve found them slow down with the squarebill crankbait, jig, and lipless crankbait to capitalize on the schooling bass.

Once you’ve located a school of fish the key is to use the smaller bass to “trigger” the big bass into biting. When large bass are alone you’re relying on your ability to fool them into biting but once they join a school they become very susceptible to the excitement of the group. Get a small bass to bite and you may be amazed to find the next bite will come from a very agressive, very big bass.

We hope you can use these tips to help you catch more big bass this Fall! We know the seasons are changing and the bass are following suit but this is prime time to catch a GIANT BASS so head out to the lake and get a school fired up!

  1. The sandpit I fish has no school bait fish. Only bluegill and bass. The pond has tons of weeds and the water is already changing to brown. There are no fish in site and aren’t hitting on jigs, lipless cranks, or buzz baits. Any suggestions?

  2. At a school you can hook a bunch of little kids and this will draw in the big fat ones who come in looking for an easy meal. (Noon seems to be the best time for some reason) A PB&J Jig with a stout hook is the old standby, but big trout swimbaits have accounted for some absolute slobs!

  3. Matt, Tim,…. I want to thank y’all for all your advice and sharing your fishing knowledge. Y’all have honestly helped me catch two double digit bass this year! A 10.2 and an 11.7! I was by myself when I hooked the 11.7 and remembered Matt saying that people lose big fish at the boat because they get in a hurry. I slowed down and made sure I didn’t rush her into the net. Again thank both you for everything!

  4. I was out on Lake Mead the other day and I found bait fish, smaller bass chasing those baitfish and feeding, but I didn't stay long enough. Great video.

  5. I recommend that you guys start doing very in depth videos about all the tips and tricks for certain techniques rather than doing "blanket" videos that cover a lot in one video. I would love to see a video series for the advanced fisherman that have a very good understanding of most stuff about bass fishing but don't know everything

  6. great vid. just went pre fishing for a tourney. crystal clear water and nasty moss grass up to 30 ft of water. had 3 fish biggest 2lbs.. tough day ugh.. realized i need to find some dirtier water.
by the way. you a daddy yet? lol

  7. once again fantastic information. Our lakes in the pacific northwest we don't have shad. our main forage is bluegill, yellow perch, crappie and mountain whitefish in a few of our lakes and of course craws. water temp yesterday was 59 water clarity 10', main cover is grass and pads which are dying off and a few points as these are natural lakes. i am curious how would you approach one of our lakes.

  8. Great info again guys! I lost my pattern and am now finding the fish super shallow in the pond I am currently fishing. Rattle Trap has been doing great for me. Thanks again guys!

  9. I am pretty new to bass fishing, so I mainly fish from shore. I am seeing shad get chased around but so far I am only catching the small bass. I hope I get surprised with a giant.

  10. 'INSTINCT' I know we've all seen it, the 'Trailer fish'!! When Matt was fishing the Delta the other day he had that monster trailer try to eat the dink he had on his line! This is one reason I don't burn the first fish from a new spot back to the boat, let em stir-up the pack. Black bass are not the smartest fish in the water but man they have aggressive instincts and that can get them in trouble. lol
