Catching Largemouth Bass In The Rainy | Bass Hide In Heavy Cover!

Trying to catch bass in the rain has always been a tricky task for me. So I challenged myself to try and catch some bass before the rain and during the rain!

In this bank fishing mission, I head out to a pond that has a lot of cover for the bass to hide in. As a bank angler this isn’t an easy task. The cover is far away and you cannot cast as far as the opposite bank if the pond is to big. The bank access could also be tricky for the pond angler to get to places where the bass are hiding.

Then the rain to me is a tricky thing to figure out. Does it make the bass bit more or less. In my experience I have found that the bass do not bit as good as what others say the bass should bite.

The good thing about fishing in these conditions is that you learn what the bass do are where they hide and what bait you should be presenting to them during the rain.

I found that bass hide away and become alittle more lethargic and don’t really like eating before the rain and even during the rain. This where fishing cover and fishing slow is key. As I say it makes it difficult for the pond angler because bank access is minimal.

The lures or bait I have found to do well are slow sinking lures like a stick Bait or a soft jerk bait.
Another lures that work really well for me is a flipping set up like a small craw or a beaver style lure.
The stick bait and the soft jerk bait I will cast in open areas and let it sink to the bottom and work it back slowly and the flipping rig i’ll mostly target the cover where the bass could be hiding.
