  1. That's how fishing big swimbaits is, & I have complete confidence throwing them. I have a jig tied on now & will be leaving that rod set up with a jig for all of this year. Until my confidence with a jig is a strong a a big swimbait. I would rather catch 1 huge fish that bunch of small fish any day. I've caught plenty of small ones. I wanna keep trying to break my PB & catching quality bass. Big swimbaits has caught me all my biggest largmouth so far. My 3 biggest is 8.6 – 9.3 – 11.4

  2. Hey Tyler, have you done an on the water tutorial on the spro Chad shad? I’m in eastern pa and I don’t really throw glide baits but I was gifted a spro chad shad for Christmas.

  3. im in Indiana. ive been playing with bigger baits 6 7 inch for a couple years now. and by far the most success with 3 to 5 pounders has come on a rat wakebait. ones that weigh around an ounce.

  4. Over the last year I've thrown the magdraft a ton, it's my go to in spring. I've caught 1 pounders on it, and 6 pounders on it. Pickerel, and believe it or not, northern snakehead tear them up literally lol. I'm wanting to learn glide baits better this year.

  5. Good tip. I'm in the been fishing a LONG time but only now trying big baits camp. My water isn't frozen. Just waiting on a decent sub 15 mph wind day to hit it on the heels of doing a bunch of outboard engine work in the last month. Can't wait to get back on the water. I bought a River 2 Sea 168 & 200 S-Waver. Pretty good reviews and not stupid expensive. These big baits ain't cheap !

  6. Yes sir I agree, & I need To lock jigs in my hand this year also. I have comple conference throwing Texas rigs & big swimbaits. Jigs on other hand is a big weakness of mine. I actually already have a rod with a heavy tungsten jig tied on for this year. I've been fishing it, only caught one small bass on it so far. But gotta start somewhere

  7. You don’t wanna waste your time with glide baits so ignore everything you see and hear in this video because they rarely work.

Knowing when and where to throw them is key and this took me around around a year to figure out.
And most people are Not willing to dump $200 to $300 in a single glide, and Yes they’re worth it to me.

  8. I just picked up a bunch of berkley nessies. A few of them are 9” baits. I’d definitely recommend a 7” Nessie to a newer angler, or even an S waver. Smaller baits to get your foot in the door on glides/swimbaits.

  9. For me I started throwing big wakebaits and got a lot of confidence throwing them . When I started throwing bigger glides and swimbaits I was already somewhat confident that I would catch fish with them

  10. As a northern guy, a 6lb fish is huge. I pretty much ignored bigger baits. I never knew how many aggressive bites I could get from average fish and how many more bigger fish were out there until I started throwing bigger lures. Instead of 1 or 2 5lb fish a year, it was 3 or 4 in a week.

  11. Biggest problem guys have with throwing big baits is after 30 minutes or even an hour of no bites or even followers. They will pick up a different rod. That's exactly what you don't wanna do. I made that mistake alot first year. You gotta throw that thing all day. Eventually you will get bit & eventually you learn when to & not to throw them. It takes a lot of time & practice! It took me 4 years to break the double digit threshold & catch my 11.4!!!! I saw a guy catch a 13 pounder out of one of my hidden honey holes in end of 2022. Thankfully my 3 favorite places I've found big bass are smaller hole in wall lakes that almost nobody fishes. I try to keep them secretive & tell everyone I catch all my big bass from the popular lakes like lake Murray & Santee Cooper which both those lakes do have monsters anyways so it's beilevable… New fishing goals for 2024 is catching a teener largmouth & a 25+ lb striper in the kayak of course

  12. I'm going on my 4th year throwing big swimbaits. Last year in half I've really fine tuned my skills. I'm from southwest Ohio myself, born & raised just north of Cincinnati. My first 2 years I was throwing big swimbaits in OH. My biggest largmouth in OH was 4.8lb. 2 years ago I moved down to southern SC. This past summer I did best I ever have beating my PB 3 times! I caught so many 4-5 pounders I lost exact count. I also caught a couple 6+pounders & my 5 biggest largmouth for 2023 was 7.4 – 8.05 – 8.6 – 9.3 – 11.4 ! I also lost a 3 fish in the 8-10 lb range too. I am addicted to throwing big baits in the kayak & finding hard to get areas most people don't wanna put extra work to get too. I'm really looking forward to 2024! So far this winter I've been getting my ass kicked getting pretty hard! It's only my second winter fishing sense I can fish all year comfortably down here. Still learning the winter game!!? Those big baits will catch small fish also, I've caught 10" bass on 8" swimbaits. They definitely draw fish from there cover & allow you to come back & approach them from another angle & different baits
