they may actually own the land underneath the water…..youd be safe on your boat but the minute you step off the boat you are trespassing…this is not usually the case but it does occur…
from my understanding, land owners can only own up to the high water mark only. They can't own a river.

Question is did you have to Portage over private property? If not you're all good if so you're not good. I have the same problem where I want to go fishing I could easily Portage from the regular Stranahan River into interior canals but not without actually trespassing. That particular City built embankment over pipes at the mouth of every Canal that goes interior from the Stranahan River and still call it the Stranahan River those canals inside. Still checking bylaws to see if it's illegal to Portage over the embankment I've got a heavy feeling that it is which is why I haven't done it. Also have a heavy feeling that these interior canals cannot be designated as Stranahan Rivers because they are no longer navigable due to embankment

ppl who call game wardens when they have know idea what they're talking about lol… i was in a MI state park getting geared up to spincast from shore for perch and overheard this old guy call me in on his phone "HeS GoInG fIsHiNg In ThE PaRk" lol and then i got to watch his dissapointed reaction as the lady on the phone probably said something like "ok nerd stop wasting my time and get a life thats fully legal"
I don't know about TX, but in MN harassing a fisherman is a Class II Misdemeanor. I'd give that Karen a strike 1, and I'm not alway generous enough too go all the way to strike 3.
