My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/

I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

  1. Have you ever tried a Gambler Bacon Rind? It's a brush hog, but with little wings on the sides of the main body where there are normally the little loop appendages- it makes it glide on the fall. I've got a pack of the little Bacon Rind Jr's and I've been putting them on your hover rig- it works great. Unfortunately, I think they're discontinued, but you can still find some here and there. They would be perfect for the Ozark Rig to.

  2. Brush Hog vs Pit Boss… what's the difference? Maybe you could do a video about the difference between these and a Texas-rigged worm? And what the function difference between a ribbon tail worm, a cut tail worm, etc. etc.

  3. Appreciate the great video, especially tipping soft plastics in chartreuse. I've done well with the Berkley Warpig in Gilly, burning it shallow, straight retrieve or deep yo yo. Bass don't just eat bluegill, they have disdain for them so it's an excellent search/reaction bait too. Thanks again Matt for another great lesson.

  4. Hey Matt, two baits that I have just hammered bass this year initiating blue gill. The yamatanuki and bellows gill (weightless) . Whether I’m in pond or a bigger lake, both baits produced amazingly. Just ordered some ozark rigs for me to try other baits to maintain this killer bite this late fall and next year. Keep those in mind as you go and kick ass next year pal 👍

  5. I like putting that pit boss on a weighted wide gap 3/0, but I rig it weedless putting the hook eye through the bait first then the barb a long with glue, on the side instead of center for a nice blue gill shape.

  6. Matt I've been wondering if you have any input on the new pre rigged bluegill style swimbaits that are gaining popularity..? I.e. the megabass sleeper gill and the 10000 fish headhunter. I've been throwing these around the great lakes and having pretty good success lately.

  7. I’ve really been playing around with the yamatanuki. 3/16 pegged bullet weight, with a Z man ez skirt, on a owner jungle 4/0. Fantastic bluegill imitation. The ez skirt comes in plenty of colours, and it’s durable.

I’ve caught some big northern bass with that. It’s something they don’t see. It’s like a jig, but you can throw it anywhere. It comes through, and over anything. Grass, rock, wood, it never gets hung up. It’s such a good combination. It straight catches em.
