Need to qualify
What makes you think they are there for the competition? These men are the fathers who want to contribute to their sport. Not some milk cow to be put out to pasture.
Leave it alone!
Clunn would not know what to do …he knows nothing else….he has the personality of a paper clip…so TV won't work for him
We rarely disagree Big Steve I love the exemption because I want to see these guys that built the sport fish even well past their prime. It’s like The Golden Bear and Arnie still playing in the Masters with no shot to win. As a fan I love seeing them out there.
Rick Clunn should retire from Elite Bass fishing when you learn to use a bait caster.
I don’t think there should ever be an age limit in sports. If you’re capable, you’re capable, period. As for the exemptions, I’m not a statistics guy so I don’t know if legends have ever really posed a threat of winning if they got in on an exemption, so personally I don’t care about it much. I’m sure, just like the latest technology they bring dollars to the sport, which is why they’re allowed in.
I think they need a senior league like PGA does.
Hey, Steve
They could fish the classic as Honorary Participants to recognize their contributions to the sport then free up those open slots for other competitors.
Then they could do public appearances, meet the fans, sign autographs and the like and still be recognized for what they have accomplished.
I agree!! They should not use career average. I think should just be last 5 year average
Legendary exemptions should be 1 time use. You use it and can’t requalify after that , you are out. I think the Legendary exemptions are an additional spot not taking away a spot from someone else , so it’s ok.I also think they should do a special legends tournament once a year. That would give fans an opportunity to see guys that retired or have been not as competitive as they once were. They can always requalify through the opens after the 1 time use.
Ouch! You’re hurting me here! You make good points. What about the affects of forward facing radar? The younger anglers grew up with computer screens and seem to be much better at their use at “catching” fish. Does that ability make them good fishermen? How about qualifications being putting them all in an auditorium with FFR screens, test them, and the best 100 go to the Elite? I for one, think the ability to use FFR does not make a great fisherman.
Sorry… but you don't know what you are talking about. Jason Christe as well as others, qualified by fishing the Opens… as far as the Legends taking up space, their spots are not part of the regular roster… if they left, zero spots would open up for anyone else . My true feelings… people with incorrect and very little knowledge, should keep their mouths shut! I think you drove the nail in your bass fishing media coffin!
yes. I think legends should only have, at most, a onetime exemption for AOY. A onetime Classic win exemption that must be used within 3 years of their Classic win. No age limit.
