My First Experience With BFS Fishing (MULTIPLE BIG BASS!)

BFS, or Bait Finesse Style, is something I am completely new to! I have been using traditional casting & spinning gear for years but I kept hearing more and more about BFS recently so I had to give it a shot. Fortunately, after putting a post out on social media, I heard from a couple of YOU!

Micah sold me this Shimano Aldebaran BFS XG / Shimano Sensilite combo. Mark sold me a Fishband GH100. Both of these setups are going to be EXCELLENT! I want to eventually get a 5 – 6′ Ultralight Casting Rod for the Fishband. I will likely get it on Aliexpress at some point. Stay tuned for that.

Clearly, based on the multiple big bass I caught in this video, you can see that I am going to like BFS very much! Honestly, I am super stoked about the fact that I am actually an ambidextrous angler and was able to switch effectively to a LH reel. Stay tuned for more Bait Finesse Style in the future!

As you all know, I am really trying to embrace light line fishing. BFS will be another part of that. Ultralights are extremely fun too, so they will definitely not be replaced anytime soon ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Looking at a nice spin cast panfish rod for my dad. Donโ€™t want one too noodly. Would you say this or the 6โ€™6 ultralight? I know you may not have tried that but based on the feel on this if you think itโ€™s worth going down to the 6โ€™6 UL.

  2. @0:40 you can slow a spin casting set up down just take a bit of practice, about as much as learning to bait cast. Also the jury is still out on the whole cast right, reel left on bait casting rigs; personally I run either or depending on if Iโ€™m jigging/fineness fishing or cranking hard plastics, spinners, etc.

  3. Fisherman nowadays fish like they're in a flw tour but forgot how to have fun with a casting rod and a reel all of them want to horse a fish to the bank as fast as possible and then say nice fight when in reality the poor fish don't have a break ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚,now catch the same fish with 6 pounds line and a really thin rod then you got a fight and if you want to make it more interesting use single barbless hooks the you really have to have skills

  4. This is great man. Just started doing some pond ned rig fishing myself, right there in the fun zone with you. Even if they are 1-#ers or less, going out and catching 4, 5, 6+ fish at a time is a good time. I was thinking about jumping in myself.

  5. I might get this Shimano Alderbaran in the future. I bought that Tsurinoya XF50 reel and matched it to a KastKing 6' UL rod. I like the combo but @raWr Fishing did a video with this combo and had some reliability issues with the reel (slippage). I have one left hand retrieve reel (frog rod) and it's definitely odd for me. I can do it but its weird. Spinning reels on the other hand, I like a left hand retrieve. You caught some nice bass out there with the BFS and it paired well the Ned rig. I'll have to try this. Ugh, so much to do….can we put more time in the day?

  6. I feel like Iโ€™d get better blank contact and leverage with lighter baits with a spinning setup, especially with light/ultralight, but who knows, donโ€™t knock it till ya try it ๐Ÿ˜‰ Also who was staring at you at 8:49? Creepppy maaan
