Fall bass can be tough to catch from the bank when the fish spread out. Sometimes, it helps to go back to basics.

Today, I’m fishing with the Gary Yamamoto Single Tail Grub, a classic soft bait with an important place in the history of Japanese bass fishing. I’ll show you a simple cast-and-retrieve, how to adjust the fall count to fish different depths, and what a bite can feel like.
The first fish was a big bluegill. After sticking with the grub, I caught a nice bass over two pounds.
