We Decided to Fish an Island… It Was Awesome

There’s something special about loading up the kayak, paddling out to an island, and spending the day fishing away from the crowds.

In this fishing adventure, my buddy and I kayak across the lake to fish from an island in search of whatever happens to be biting. Instead of targeting just one species, we enjoy a full day of multi-species fishing and make the most of every opportunity.

Throughout the trip I catch:

• 3 catfish
• 2 bluegill
• Several perch

My buddy also lands a beautiful crappie and a nice largemouth bass, making for an action-packed day on the water.

Partway through the trip, my friend lends me a pair of walkie-talkies, making it easy to stay in touch while fishing different areas of the island. Between the conversations, the catches, and the peaceful surroundings, this trip was about much more than simply catching fish—it was about enjoying the outdoors and sharing the experience with a good friend.
