How To Catch Panfish From The Bank! #thenextcast

On this episode of The Next cast, I will be bank fishing multiple ponds I call “The Test Waters” in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in East Tennessee! April fishing can be tough if you don’t use the right fishing setup, tips, techniques, secrets, hacks, tricks, and rigs!

On this cold Spring fishing trip I grabbed my 8” ACC Crappie Stix Rod paired with a PFLUEGER TRION reel, some Night Crawlers, and custom Rock Creek hair Jigs and headed out to The Test Waters! I also grabbed my 7” Lew’s Reactor Rod paired with the Lew’s R-30 reel and a Truscend Shaking Shad swimbait!

Early Spring fishing can be tough no matter where in the world you are fishing. Whether your targeting Crappie, Bass, Perch, Walleye, Catfish, Bluegill, Redear Sunfish (Shellcrackers), White Bass, or any other species of fish you can use this technique to put fish in your bucket or cooler every time.

The Test Waters is the name I have for our family farm that has 8 individual spring fed ponds. These ponds range is sizes from less than a 1/4 acre to 3/4 of an acre. I call them the Test Waters because over the years I could test a new lure, jig, or any other type of bait here and have a similar experience with it on other bodies of water from creeks, rivers, ponds, and lakes!

The ponds have been in the family since I was a little boy and at one time were filled with thousands of Blue Catfish. Yes, thousands of Blue Catfish! The Test Waters once served as a Catfish farm and had numerous different services it provided to the local community. These services included stocking local ponds with Fathead minnows, Blue Catfish, Bluegill, and Largemouth Bass. It also provided fresh and frozen catfish fillets to numerous local restaurants for fish fry events.
