Beach Fishing Eastbourne 🎣 Dover Sole And Scratching Around for Whatever Bites!

Ah, it’s good to be back out fishing! 🎣

After a few months away, I finally made it back onto the beach at Eastbourne for a few hours of fishing. The plan was simple — target Dover sole on the flooding tide with frozen lugworm and squid, and see what we could find.

The fishing has been tough across the South East lately, so expectations weren’t exactly sky high. But with calm conditions, some colour in the water and a flooding tide, things looked promising.

We had bites from the off, including a small Dover sole, but unfortunately that was the only sole of the night! 😂

Instead, we ended up scratching around for whatever would take the bait, with a bass, small smoothhound pup, dogfish and plenty of tiny conger straps making an appearance. The congers in particular seemed determined to destroy every nice rig I put out! 😂

Not the biggest fish-filled session, but after being away from the beach for a while, I was simply grateful to be back fishing again.
