This FLY Works Like MAGIC!!

Fly fishing for creek bass in a tiny shallow urban creek with Candy Buggers from Candy Flies, catching a 20.5 inch creek PB!! These creek bass were definitely interested!

I spent the day fly fishing this tiny urban creek and putting several different Candy Flies patterns to the test. The fish were responding incredibly well, but I definitely wasn’t expecting one of them to produce my new creek bass PB!

I spotted several larger fish holding in the creek and eventually hooked into one that immediately gave me a serious fight. With shallow water, submerged cover, and plenty of places for her to hang me up, getting this fish in was anything but guaranteed.

When I finally landed her and pulled out the tape measure, she went 20.5 inches, my biggest bass ever from this creek and my first 20-inch largemouth of the year.

What makes this catch even crazier is the water it came from. This is a tiny, shallow urban creek. In some areas the water was only around ankle deep, yet somehow fish like this are living in it.

The fly that caught the PB was an Orange and Pink Candy Bugger, and apparently the big bass wasn’t a fluke. After releasing her, I kept fishing the same little stretch and hooked another bass immediately this one around 15 inches.

The Candy Bugger wasn’t the only fly producing, either. I tested multiple patterns from Candy Flies throughout the day, and the fish were responding to all of them. I’ll include the flies from this trip below so you can check out the exact patterns I was fishing.
