Heavy Rain Ruined the Bass Fishing… So I Went Trout Fishing! | Chattahoochee River

Heavy storms rolled through North Georgia the night before this trip, leaving most of the mountain rivers high, muddy, and blown out. I knew bass fishing in the mountains probably wasn’t going to happen, so I changed plans and headed to the Chattahoochee River for some trout fishing.

One of the great things about the Chattahoochee below Buford Dam is that the water can stay surprisingly clear even after heavy rain, making it a great backup option when other rivers are muddy.

The fishing definitely wasn’t easy. The river was heavily pressured and I had to work for every bite, but I managed to land two chunky rainbow trout around 15 inches along with two small wild brown trout.

Sometimes changing the plan pays off!
