California Delta Bass Fishing | 20+ Fish & a Quadfecta at Little Franks Tract! | 8-7-26

We spent the day fishing the **California Delta around Little Franks Tract** and ended up having a great numbers day with **20+ fish**.

The best action was in the morning before 10 AM. A **red Rat-L-Trap** was the standout bait early and accounted for a lot of our fish. As the morning progressed, we were also able to catch them throwing **buzzbaits** and **drop shotting**.

We never found the bigger Delta bass we were looking for, but we caught fish consistently and ended up with something I don’t think I’ve ever done before — a **quadfecta with four different species in the same trip**:

🌘 **Moon:** Waning Crescent – approximately 31% illuminated
🌑 **Next New Moon:** August 12 – about 5 days away

🌇 **Sunset:** approximately 8:07 PM

🌊 **Little Franks Tract Tides:**

* High: 12:04 AM – approximately 4.20 ft
* Low: 7:42 AM – approximately 1.05 ft
* High: 1:56 PM – approximately 2.46 ft
* Low: 5:40 PM – approximately 2.23 ft

The tide movement lined up really well with what we saw on the water. We had a lot of our action **before 10 AM**, putting us right around the **morning low tide and the beginning of the incoming tide**.

The low bottomed out around **7:42 AM**, meaning the early Rat-L-Trap bite occurred as water was moving out and then continued as the tide turned and started coming back in.

The moon timing was also interesting. We were fishing **five days before the August 12 new moon**, with only about **31% illumination** remaining.

That puts this trip right at the edge of the **±5-day full/new moon window** we’ve been watching on the Castaic Lagoon trips. It’s another data point worth tracking, especially since the morning produced such high numbers.

Another interesting piece was the moon’s position. The moon was approximately **overhead around 8:11 AM**, right in the middle of the period when we were catching a lot of fish. So we had several things overlapping during the strongest part of the morning:

It wasn’t a big-fish day, but **20+ fish, four different species, multiple productive techniques, and a new species for me** made it a great day on the California Delta.
