The Bass Said NO… So We Did THIS!
Sometimes the fish don’t get the memo… so you better have a Plan B! 🎣
Today I headed out on the water with my grandson Wyatt to do some Bass fishing. We started the morning throwing a Zoom Craw Z, one of my go-to lures, especially when I’m fishing early. But the Bass had other plans—and after a while, the bite just wasn’t happening.
That’s when experience comes into play.
After 69 years of fishing, I’ve learned that you always need a backup plan. I had a feeling the Bass might not cooperate, so I brought some worms with us. That little Plan B turned the day around!
Wyatt and I switched gears and started catching some BIG Bluegill along with some freshwater catfish. It just goes to show that sometimes the difference between catching fish and getting skunked is a very thin line—and that line is knowing when to change your plan.
Fishing is a lot like a big chess match. You have to watch what’s happening, make adjustments, and think one move ahead. fishing here in Louisiana is just like fishing in Texas or Mississippi or Alabama or Florida or North Carolina fishing is the same all over and once you realize that you can catch fish anywhere. 
And now that I’m retired and getting older, I’ve learned something else: you don’t have to fish harder… you just have to fish smarter.
Most importantly, Wyatt and I had a great day together on the water. Those are the days I’ll remember long after the fish are gone.
This is what retirement is all about for me—getting outside, spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, and making memories.
