I headed down to Tracy, California, to explore a new fishing location and see what I could catch. After hearing about the great fishing from subscribers, viewers, and customers, I decided to check out Clifton Court Forebay and several other nearby spots.

The trip started with an unexpected catch—a striper on a 1-inch black Flex Bug! From there, the action really picked up as I found some productive water holding bluegill, shellcracker (redear sunfish), and bass.

One of the keys to finding the fish was paying attention to the conditions. Once the sun came out and the wind died down, the fish became much more active. I eventually found a shaded area with plenty of fish, and the bites became almost nonstop. I was catching bluegill and shellcracker after cast using a 1-inch black Flex Bug paired with a 1/80 oz jig head.

Later in the trip, I made a move to Lathrop/Manteca, CA looking for bigger fish—and it paid off with a monster, palm-sized shellcracker that chased the Flex Bug out of the deep!
