This Massachusetts B.A.S.S. Nation Kayak Series event on Lake Cochituate started about as well as I could’ve hoped: with a giant bass in the first 30 minutes.

Then…nothing.

I scratched out about one fish every two hours after that and spent the rest of the day chasing that fifth and final bass. And then time ran out.

One more keeper would’ve completed my limit and put me in the money.

So. Damn. Close.
