Some days on the water are about the fish you catch. Others are about the ones that get away… and the memories you make along the way.
Today was a little bit of both.
I spent the day chasing big smallmouth bass, and there were plenty of heart-pounding moments—some great catches, some BIG smallmouth that made it to the boat… and a few that got away at exactly the wrong time! 😳🐟
The fishing was exciting, but the day was also different because of the smoke-filled air from the devastating Spokane-area wildfires. The conditions created an unusual backdrop for a day on the water and served as a reminder that every opportunity to get outside and enjoy a day of fishing is something worth appreciating.
On the boat drive back to the ramp, I found myself thinking about the day’s highlights—the fish I caught, the ones I lost, the moments that made me laugh, and the memories that will stick with me long after the boat is back on the trailer.
I’ll also share a little “How To” fishing tip along the way that may help you put more smallmouth bass in the boat.
This isn’t just another day of bass fishing. It’s a reminder that sometimes the best part of fishing isn’t measured by the number of fish in the livewell. It’s the experiences, the surprises, the heartbreaks, and the memories we take home with us.
