San Antonio BASS Fishing in 100° HEAT…They Still BITE

Can you still catch bass when it’s 100 degrees outside? Apparently, the San Antonio bass didn’t get the memo that it’s too hot to eat.

South Texas summer is absolutely brutal, but that doesn’t mean bass fishing has to stop. In this video, I’m chasing largemouth bass around San Antonio, Texas, including the San Antonio River Walk near the Pearl District and a few local ponds, to see if these fish will still bite during the extreme summer heat.

I kept the artificial bait game simple, throwing soft plastic worms and craws with presentations like the Texas rig, wacky rig, and Neko rig. The goal wasn’t just to catch fish—it was to figure out where bass position when temperatures push toward triple digits and what it takes to actually get them to bite.

Shade, deeper water, current, cover, and slowing down your presentation can make a huge difference when that Texas sun starts cooking everything in sight.

Were they all giants? Nope. But the bites kept coming—and one solid San Antonio River Walk bass proved that even when it’s scorching outside, these fish can absolutely still be caught.

If you’re struggling with summer bass fishing, don’t hang up the rods just because the thermometer hits 100°. Adjust where you’re fishing, slow things down, and keep casting.
