For the first six months of 2026, I challenged myself to do more than just fish Lake Perris—I tracked every trip, every bass, and the conditions surrounding every catch.
After 75 trips, 59 successful outings, and 407 bass, I finally had enough data to step back and look for patterns.
This video isn’t about one lucky day or one giant fish. It’s about what hundreds of catches revealed over time.
Some of the biggest takeaways surprised me. More than half of my bass over three pounds came from less than five feet of water. The best quality fishing consistently happened once water temperatures reached the low seventies. And one lesson became clear over and over again: the biggest fish weren’t tied to one magic bait or one perfect spot—they showed up when several conditions came together.
Just as important were the slower days. Sixteen trips ended without a fish, but those trips helped identify when patterns broke down and forced me to adjust instead of repeating the same mistakes.
The biggest lesson from this project wasn’t learning where the fish were. It was learning why they were there.
Keeping detailed records changed the way I approach Lake Perris. Instead of relying on memory or guessing what might work, I can now look back at months of fishing and recognize patterns in depth, water temperature, seasonal movement, and changing conditions.
I hope this video encourages you to start keeping track of your own fishing. You don’t need hundreds of trips before patterns begin to appear. The more information you collect, the less you’ll rely on luck, and the more confident your decisions become on the water.
