Lake of the Ozarks Bass Fishing – 29 Jun 2026 | Fishing report

We fished Lake of the Ozarks out of Shawnee Bend on 29 June 2026. We started at 0630 and wrapped up around 1450, giving us about 8 hours and 20 minutes on the water.

It turned into another solid day. We finished with 36 total fish, 7 keepers, and 38.0 pounds of total fish weight. Our best five went 11.9 pounds.

The day started off strong when Billy caught the big bass of the day right out of the gate, a 3.12-pounder on a white swimbait at 0655. That was a great way to start the morning and gave us an early keeper in the box.

The bait of the day was definitely the white swimbait. It produced 22 of our 36 fish and 5 of our 7 keepers. We caught them with it on the bank, around boat docks, and on breakwater. The swimbait bite was not just a numbers deal either, it produced most of the better fish for the day.

The 5-inch PBJ worm was the next best bait. It added 10 fish and 1 keeper, mostly on the bank, with one fish coming around breakwater. The PBJ worm was a good follow-up bait when the swimbait bite slowed or when we wanted to work an area more thoroughly.

We also caught fish on a shad swimbait, white chatterbait, and green pumpkin jig, but those were more limited. The white chatterbait did produce a keeper, but overall the swimbait was clearly the main pattern.

Most of the fish came shallow again. We had 24 fish from the bank, 8 around boat docks, and 4 around breakwater. That lined up pretty well with what has been working for us lately: banks, docks, and breakwater areas where the fish can set up close to cover or shade.

We had a good morning bite, then picked away through the middle of the day. Later in the day, we were still able to add fish and cull some, including a couple of solid keepers around midday. Mark added a 2.42-pounder on the white swimbait and another 2.40-pounder later in the day, both helping build the final bag.

Overall, it was a good day on the water. The white swimbait was the clear winner, and the PBJ worm gave us a solid backup when we needed to slow down. The biggest takeaway from this trip was simple: keep the white swimbait in hand around banks, boat docks, and breakwater, then follow up with the PBJ worm when the fish need something slower.
