He Kept Catching Fish. I Kept Catching Bigger Ones.

There are two types of fishing trips:

The ones where you catch fish.

And the ones where you have so much fun chasing fish, competing with your buddies, and making memories that you’re still talking about it days later.

This trip was definitely the second kind.

Steve was landing all the spotties, but a few quality bonefish put me in the lead. Every catch seemed to shake up the leaderboard early, which meant plenty of score checking and debating who was really having the better day on the water.

By the time the afternoon wind started doing its thing in the back bay, neither of us wanted to head in. The fishing was good, the competition was even better, and somehow every fish felt like it mattered just a little bit more.

Honestly, this was one of the most fun days I’ve had on the water in a long time. Not because of the fish we caught, but because of the laughs, the friendly rivalry, and having a way to turn an ordinary fishing trip into something we’ll be talking about all week.
