27 MPH Winds, Big Bass, and a Missing Motor

Lake Rousseau put me to the test today with 27 MPH winds making boat control and fishing extremely difficult.

Even with the tough conditions, I was able to get a solid frog bite going and put a few quality bass in the boat early. Things got even better when I moved into a stump field where I hooked into a big one I estimate around 8 pounds, but unfortunately lost it right at the boat. I was able to bounce back with a solid 19” bass in the same area.

As the day wrapped up and I was heading back to the ramp, things took a turn when I hit a hidden stump and completely ripped my trolling motor off the boat. I ended up drifting into the pads and reeds before finally getting things under control.

Definitely one of those days where everything that could happen… did.
