I Caught This Giant From the Bank with Japanese Finesse

Bank fishing isn’t easy.

Limited access. Bad angles. Sometimes we can’t even reach the best spots.

Meanwhile, boat anglers can cover water, chase fish, and fish areas we simply can’t reach from shore.

But in Japan, where bank fishing is extremely popular, anglers developed a different approach.

Instead of fishing faster, they learned how to fish slower.

In this video, I use a Japanese finesse technique called the Neko Rig with the Bottomup Breavor II, a worm designed by legendary Japanese bank angler Kotaro Kawamura.

While the boats were covering water with reaction baits, I slowed down and picked apart the area from the bank.

The result?

An over 8-pound-class largemouth bass.

This is why Japanese finesse techniques continue to be some of the most effective tools for bank anglers.
