Lake of the Ozarks Bass Fishing – 4 Jun 2026 | Fishing report
We followed up yesterday’s trip with another morning out of Shawnee Bend on Lake of the Ozarks. We started at 0730 and fished until about 1130, so this one ended up being a shorter trip than planned.
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday Billy had the hot hand, but today the roles switched and I was getting most of the bites and all of the keepers. We ended the day with 19 total fish, 4 keepers, and 19.4 pounds of total fish weight. Our best five went 9.3 pounds.
We started at the same ramp but fished the right side of the cove and some main lake areas. The fish were still relating to the bank, docks and breakwater areas. The best baits were the blue chrome popper, green pumpkin brush hog, bluegill jig, and green pumpkin 5-inch worm wacky rigged.
The morning started with a good topwater bite. The blue chrome popper produced five fish and two keepers, including some of the better early bites. The brush hog and jig also caught fish around flooded bushes and bank cover, and the green pumpkin worm added the most total bites with six fish.
The highlight of the day for me was finally breaking the 3-pound mark this year with a 3.00-pound bass. Billy and I have been joking back and forth about who has caught the bigger fish this season. He had already broken the 3-pound mark, and today I finally got there too. Now the new goal is to break 4 pounds, which is really what we are all chasing anyway.
Billy also caught a walleye just after 1100 on a chartreuse and black crankbait. While we were getting a photo, we had a small mishap with a hook in the finger, so we decided to cut the trip short and get that taken care of. Everything turned out fine, but that ended the day earlier than planned.
Overall, it was another productive trip, even though it was shorter. The fish were not as aggressive as yesterday, but we still caught a good number of fish and put together a solid bag for only four hours on the water. The blue chrome popper was the standout bait early, and the green pumpkin worm, brush hog and bluegill jig helped keep fish coming once the morning moved along.
