Big Bass in a Hidden Creek (St. Johns River Tournament)

In this video, I fish the Florida Bass Nation Kayak Series Tournament on the St. Johns River. This tournament proved to be a grind from start to finish.

With a massive launch range from Palatka to DeLand, I decided to fish near Astor. I started the morning with a 16.5” fish but lost a big one early on a stick bait that could’ve changed the day.

After some time, I made a move into a residential creek where I had a good bite in practice. That decision led to a couple key fish, including a 20.25” bass around a culvert.

Later, I found a big bait ball on forward-facing sonar and fired a jerkbait into it, catching my biggest fish of the day at 20.75”.

I added one more small keeper but couldn’t fill a full limit, along with a couple dinks that wouldn’t measure. Not the result I was looking for, but that’s tournament fishing — making adjustments and trying to make the most out of a tough day.
