Springtime River Fishing for Prespawn BIG Smallmouth BONUS FOOTAGE NUCANOE & SWIMBAITS

The trees are budding out and that means one thing for me, early spring river smallmouth. This time of the year you can get your PB on these fat Pre Spawn females. Small swimbaits are my bait of choice but as you’ll see near the end of the video swimbaits are another preferred technique for securing a big smallmouth.

In this video I catch a decent smallmouth, but the hunt is still on for those true Springtime giants. I’ve never tied on and thrown a $175 swimbait/glide bait and the thought of it just sounds crazy but once you catch that bug, I think you are ruined. I’ll definitely be bringing my wetsuit and dive mask and fins out of retirement if I ever get into lures that cost more than my broadheads and saddle hunting platforms.

Get out there this Spring and catch a giant. Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Striped Bass are all chewing right now! It’s hard to decide what to target with the trees blooming out and the water warming up. Remember to be courteous on the water with other anglers and enjoy God’s awesome creation.
