Sam Rayburn Bass Fishing: Old School vs Live Scope – Part 1

Fishing Sam Rayburn Reservoir in early February is tough – the lake is 9.5 feet low, stumps are everywhere, and shallow grass is almost gone. In this part 1 of a 2 – part series, I’m fishing completely old school – Swim jig, shallow crankbait, and Carolina rig – without relying on Live Cope forward – facing sonar.

There’s a lot of debate in bass fishing about whether Live Scope is necessary to consistently catch bass, especially in tough winter and pre spawn
conditions. I’ve owned Live Scope for years but rarely depend on it, so this series tests old school fishing against new school technology on Sam Rayburn.
