In this episode of Call of the Outdoors, I’m out at Laguna Creek targeting winter crappie and bluegill using ultra-light jig setups. Cold-water panfish fishing can be tough, but with the right approach, you can still find success — even from the bank.

I’m fishing black 1-inch and 1.5-inch flex bugs paired with 1/80 oz and 1/64 oz jig heads, working both a bobber setup and a cast-and-retrieve presentation. During the winter months, crappies and bluegills often relate tight to cover, especially along grassy banks, making shoreline fishing very effective.

Throughout the evening bite, I land multiple crappies and bluegills, including nursery fish that show just how healthy this creek system is. This is a great spot to relax, practice jigging techniques, and introduce kids or family members to panfish fishing.

Laguna Creek holds a variety of species including crappie, bluegill, bass, and carp, making it a fun and accessible fishery year-round.

If you enjoy ultra-light fishing, bank fishing, or panfish action, make sure to like, subscribe, and follow along for more local fishing adventures.

🎣 Tight lines and thanks for watching!
