Jerkbait Fishing for the First Time: Winter Kayak Bass Fishing

This was my very first time ever throwing a jerkbait… and let’s just say it got a little messy 😅

I headed out to Sycamore Lake in Lexington, Tennessee with my father-in-law for a day of kayak bass fishing, and somehow it turned into one of those days you don’t forget. From missed bites and learning curves to dialing it in, I ended up catching around 30 bass and having an absolute blast on the water.

I was fishing from my Old Town Autopilot 136 kayak and throwing the Berkley Stunna jerkbait, learning on the fly and figuring out what actually works. This wasn’t perfect fishing—but it was fun, real, and a great reminder that time on the water with family is what it’s all about.

If you’re new to jerkbaits, kayak fishing, or just love bass fishing content, this one’s for you.
